There is tragedy and triumph as the action switches back and forth, following the adventures of both sets of characters. This novel begins with a bang, and the pace never falters. There is very little background information, so newcomers should start with Tunnels. But fans of the series are going to have a hard time putting it down. There is a lot of action; lively dialogue; diabolical villains and feisty teens; clever cat-like companion hunters; things that blow up; torture and mind manipulation; family and friends in danger; and trust and betrayal.
